About the Chorale

The Greater Middletown ChoraleThe Greater Middletown Chorale has sought to bring “great music to the people of Connecticut” since 1977.

Founded as an oratorical singing society, it has been accorded many honors. The group has sung at two gubernatorial inaugurations, collaborated with the Hartford Symphony Orchestra, and was a featured ensemble at an American Choral Directors Association convention. Its 80 members present a repertoire that ranges from classical masterworks to contemporary choral benchmarks.

The Chorale takes particular pleasure in commissioning and presenting new choral works at least once a season. This last initiative led the Meneely sisters to select the Greater Middletown Chorale to bring this local story to life. Through its ongoing New Choral Works Initiative, the Chorale took on Letter from Italy, 1944 with zeal, and made significant investments of time and talent to realize the production in Spring 2013.
